Barrett Honors Senior Thesis

My senior thesis will be an independent engineering research and design project completed as part of Barrett, The Honors College. The project will allow me to investigate a focused mechanical engineering problem in greater depth and apply the technical, analytical, and communication skills developed throughout my undergraduate studies.

Working under the guidance of a faculty thesis director and committee member, I will define the research question, review existing work, establish project requirements, and develop an appropriate technical approach. Depending on the final topic, the thesis may include engineering analysis, CAD development, prototyping, experimentation, simulation, manufacturing, or validation testing.

The project will conclude with a formal written thesis and an oral defense before my faculty committee. The committee will evaluate the technical quality of the work, the strength of the analysis, the project’s contribution, and my ability to clearly explain and defend the results.
